Barcelona chief Sandro Rosell has replied to Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho over his comments after the Merengues laboured to a 0-0 draw at the Riazor.

Rosell also couldn’t resist a swipe at the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ when he insisted Pep Guardiola never complains while also celebrating the etiqutte of his club in the public eye.

Speaking to Spanish publication AS, Rosell told them: ”I know we [Barcelona] play Tuesday and Saturday or Sunday and Tuesday. This is sport, and when you are told to play, you must play, there is no other way to deal with it. That’s sport,” he added.

The comments come after Mourinho was highly critical of the fixture planners claiming they ”laugh” at him and ”it would have been fairer if we were to play on Sunday.” Mourinho had just watched his tired team fail to break down a staunch Deportivo La Coruna defence and instead of citing his attack as the reason, turned to fatigue as the excuse.

As well as applauding Pep Guardiola for never complaining about fixture congestion, Rosell hailed the moral ethics of his club in every aspect. ”Barcelona has fantastic values of many sports, the club meets fairly in all areas, especially football.”

The Spaniard can speak very highly of the reigning La Liga champions at the moment. They currently sit top of the league, seven points ahead of arch-rivals, Real Madrid and go into their Champions League second-leg tie against Arsenal as favourites to progress as well despite a 2-1 first-leg loss.
