The leadership of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) may not appeal the judgment of the court that upheld the candidature of Senator Muhammad Lado as the gubernatorial candidate of the party in Katsina State, the Deputy National Legal Adviser of the party, Abubakar Malami has said.
Speaking to Daily Trust yesterday in Abuja, the legal adviser said the party has both political and legal options in resolving the political imbroglio it has found itself.
He said the board of trustees was already meeting to fashion out modalities which may include adhering to the court order, appealing the case, reconciliation or withdrawing candidates from the contest.
The Congress for Progressive Change is bedevilled with crisis, especially in the North West which is widely regarded as the stronghold of the party. The region is also home to presidential candidate of the party, General Muhammadu Buhari.
The party is billed to kick-start its campaigns for the April elections in Kaduna tomorrow.
According the campaign plan, the gubernatorial flag bearers of the party will be handed the party’s flag during the programme. If the party finally opt not to appeal the judgment, Senator Lado may receive the flag for Katsina State following the ruling of the court.
