Manchester United target Ashley Young refuses to enter Aston Villa contract negotiations until end of season

Aston Villa attacker Ashley Young has reiterated his stance that he won’t talk about a possible contract extension at the club until the end of the season.

The England international has only 16 months left on his contract in the Midlands and is a rumoured target for Liverpool and more recently Manchester United.

The 25-year-old, who scored twice in Villa’s 4-1 win over Blackburn at the weekend, is believed to have doubts over Villa’s ambitions, despite the £30 million double swoop for Darren Bent and Jean Makoun in the January transfer window and won’t offer guarantees about staying with Gerard Houllier’s side.

“I have always said I will leave talks until the end of the season and that’s how it is,” Young told The Sun.

“Every time I pull on the shirt I go out to give 110 per cent for Villa.

“I am delighted to be playing in the position I am in, just behind the main striker, and doing well for the team.”
