7-0 is not a score seen very often, especially in Serie A. But on Sunday, Udinese put seven unanswered past a shaken Palermo side inspired by hotshot playmaker Alexis Sanchez, who scored four goals in the historic match.
The drubbing was unmistakable evidence that Udinese are one of the most exciting sides in Europe, having been sensational in 2011 after a dire start to the season that included four consecutive losses.
In the new year, Udinese’s talents have come to the forefront and lifted the team into fifth place in Serie A at present, now challenging for a spot in next season’s Champions League campaign.
Memorable matches like the 4-4 draw against league leaders Milan, and wins over both traditional Serie A powerhouses Juventus and Inter, have alerted the world to not only the brilliance of Sanchez, but also the other role players on Udinese’s books who will become the envy of scouts from top team across Europe, and be the subject of bids in the next transfer window. Goal.com takes you through the ‘most wanted’ names from the Stadio Friuli.
