Local Frozen Foods Firm Pays Over Us$11m Tax

SERVISTER, a wholly-owned Ghanaian business concern and a prime importer of frozen foods, last year discharged its tax obligations to the tune of over US$11 million (GH¢16.9 million).

This is in respect of its obligation to the VAT, IRS and Customs by way of Import duty. This, the company said, is verifiable from GCNET.

A statement issued by the company at a meeting in Tema said the allegations published in recent media investigations – that the some companies may have evaded taxes for 2010 – could not include SERVISTER as all its obligations have been discharged.

The statement further explained that SERVISTER accounts for nearly 40 % of the cargo business carried out by key shipping companies at the port.

SERVISTER has continued to fly high the flag of Ghana in an industry dominated by external companies.

SERVISTER has recently opened a new ultra-modern cold-store, which ranks as one of the biggest in West Africa.
