3 Soldiers Die In Crash

Three members of the Armed Forces Band died in a road accident on Saturday, when their vehicle was involved in an accident on the Kwahu Ridged.

Reports indicate that the vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into the valley. The soldiers were returning from a funeral at Obomeng Kwahu in the Eastern Region.

In a telephone interview yesterday, the Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Armed Forces, Colonel Mbawine Atintande, confirmed the death of the three soldiers who, he said, had attended a colleague’s funeral.
He said a number of other personnel were injured and were taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, the Nkawkaw government hospital and the Atibie Hospital.

Meanwhile, in an interview, the Commander of the Police MTTU, ACP Awuni, confirmed the accident and added that the three soldiers died on the spot, while seven who were injured were rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in critical condition. Six others were treated and discharged.

He also confirmed that the vehicle which plunged into the valley is still stacked there.
