Spokesperson for former President Jerry John Rawlings and a Deputy General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Kofi Adams, has lashed out at the Convention People’s Party (CPP), accusing the Nkrumaist party of always looking for “an opportunity to align itself with other parties,” instead of re-focusing and re-inventing ways of making the party attractive to Ghanaians just like the CPP Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah bequeathed to them.

“…they are always looking for an alignment with other existing strong structures, and not thinking about rebuilding themselves,” he added.

Comparatively, the Deputy NDC General Secretary said, a cursory look at the CPP today as against that of yesteryears will lead one to safely conclude that “the passion Nkrumah used in serving his party cannot be associated with the current leaders in the CPP.”

“The passion, the dynamism, the vision Dr. Nkrumah used in moving the CPP, I don’t think we have anybody in the today’s CPP who has those same beliefs and passion,” Mr. Adams stated.

To him, the CPP of today is out of touch with reality and does not represent anything, adding that when one listens to them carefully, “you would not be able to figure out what they represent.”

Contributing to a panel discussion on “Kokrokoo” on Peacefm, he disclosed that two major political parties had sprung up from the CPP and despite their activities being unknown to Electoral Commission, they are very strong on the grounds politically.

Amidst chuckles, Mr. Adams revealed the names of the two ‘unknown’ political parties as “Cockerel-Umbrella and Cockerel-Elephant.”

He lauded Dr. Nkrumah for making provisions for the expansion of electricity supply and the development of the country in areas such as Education, Housing, Roads, etc before his unfortunate overthrow.

Mr. Adams said his expression of commendation is borne out of the fact that despite the challenges faced by Ghana’s first President during his tenure, he was able to project the country to be the first trail blazer of African liberation.
