Ilorin—Action Congress of Nigeria has accused the federal government of attempting to reverse osun and ekiti states judgments through the query it issued Justice Ayo Salami, threatening that if they tried it Nigeria will not be the same again.
The national publicity secretary of the party, Alh Lai Mohammed gave the warning in Igbaja yesterday while distributing campaign tools to supporters of the party in ifelodun local government area of the state.
According to him,” What the PDP and indeed the federal government wants to do is to reverse the Ekiti and osun states judhement and if they try it Nigeria will nor be the sane again’’.
He averred that,’ Just because they say they lost two states, heavens didn’t fall when the PDP won court cases in some parts of the country. We understand they are already having nocturnal meetings and they want to bring down the judiciary to reopen the cases in the two states’’.
The ACN spokesman further noted that ,”It is wrong for NJC to start issuing queries just because the litigant is unhappy with the judgment of a court. If they want to destroy Salami, they are destroying the judiciary without knowing it. They had better left those judges alone.
The ACN further challenged the federal government that ,”If they want to really convince Nigerians that there were no underhand dealings , let them publish the call logs of everybody that spoke to salami in the last one yr”.
While warning that the federal government should not unnecessarily tempt people and that , the government has tried their patience enough, ACN expressed concern that President Goodluck Jonathan is behaving as if he does not know what is happening and what his party is doing to the judiciary.
‘’As we talk, the judges that handled the cases where ACN won have been issued queries.”
Why were those who pronounced judgement in favour of the PDP were not issued querries”he added.
The ACN posited that ‘’The government is living in a fool’s paradise. If anyone thinks that what happened in Egypt cannot happenin Nigeria, then they are just being stupid. Its unrealist. What people were talking abouit in Egypt was poverty. Under Mubarak, the Egyptian people had alot and yet they toppled the gov. If anyone says what happend in Egyp t cammot happen in Nigeria, then they shpuld re_examine themselves.”
On the summon of its presidential candidate by the senate over its roles while the EFCC boss, it stated, ‘’I belive governance is continuous and that question should be addressed to efcc and not to Nuhu. What has the efcc done with the money. If the nass says they are raising the issue because of our candidate, then they have failed woefully because it is on record that during nuhu’s time the fight against corruption took the front burner”.
Alh Lai Mohammed noted that the impact of the ACN is overwhelming in kwara and that it will bring positive change to the state,”.Change is about to come to Kwara in a manner that has not been witness change the way it has never been done’’.he stressed.
