Presidential aide Nii Lantey Vanderpuye says President John Evans Atta Mills does physical exercise for exactly one hour and half hours every morning from 5.30am to 7.00am.

He was speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana show.

President Mill’s health and fitness has been a matter of public discussion for months now, but his aide said “those who think the President is not strong should think again because the man is very consistent and religious with daily physical exercise”.

He said when the president wakes up in morning, he does his morning devotion and then goes straight to the gym.

The presidential aide said the President begins his routine with various physical exercises including press ups and weight lifting for 30 minutes, followed by the stationary bike for 15 minutes, then to the tread mill for 45 minutes before going to prepare for the office,” he said.

“I joined him in one of the session and tried to challenge him but I run out of steam in 22 minutes – clearly this shows the president is more fit than some of us who think we look stronger than him,” he said.

Nii Lantey Vanderpuye noted that the president is very particular about time so he finishes his exercise on time and gets to the office at exactly 8.00 am every morning.

He said the president is never late for the office.

NPP MP for Okere, Mr. Dan Botwe lauded the president’s commitment to physical exercise and said “I also exercise for 30 minutes on the tread mill everyday and I do go on a walk occasionally.”
