A member of the New Patriotic Party’s campaign team, John Boadu has stated that between the NPP’s flagbearer and President John Mills, the latter is more desperate to be president compared to the NPP’S Nana Addo.

The Minister of Information, John Akologo Tia has described the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party as frustrated, desperate and does not merit his position as the leader of the main opposition group.
Mr. Tia stressed that Nana Akufo-Addo’s “war-mongering” statement of ‘all die be die’ was made out of frustration and a refusal to accept the fact that he has already lost the 2012 elections in advance.

However, John Boadu is convinced that of the two men, President John Mills was more desperate to become president considering the number of times he had to contest before ascending the presidency.

He was speaking in an interview with Emefa Apawu, host of the Big Bite show on Xfm 95.1, a privately owned commercial radio station in Accra.

He says, “if you are talking about somebody who thinks that it is a divine providence for him to be president, it is rather His Excellency J.E.A Mills. Someone who was Vice President from 1996, he contested in 2000 elections, he lost, contested 2004, he lost. He contested three times before becoming president. Who is more desperate than this man?”

Touting Nana Addo’s credentials as one just fit for the presidency, Mr. Boadu insists, “Nana Addo has been a champion of democracy. When he was championing democracy, fighting military rule, some of these people talking were just hiding under their beds. They were not able to speak. We have been able to fight, we have gotten democracy; some of them are enjoying the fruits of democracy, let us all maintain the peace… and ensure that people who for want of being deceived by the manifesto of the NDC are talked to understand that you do not go chasing non-existing jobs by chasing out DCE’s etc.”

On his part, the Propaganda Secretary maintained that Ghanaians would go for President Mills as against Nana Akufo Addo, who he described as “a bad product”.

Countering Mr. Boadu’s argument, Mr. Quashigah impressed on Nana Addo to forget 2012 as even members of his own party are preparing feverishly for 2016, knowing that 2012 is out of their reach.

“Between the two, Ghanaians would go for Mills. So Akufo Addo should forget about 2012, because a lot of people within his own party are behind him and preparing for 2016. They know that Nana Addo is not going to make it”.
