The MP for Assin North, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong is in the news again, but for the wrong reasons; launching a vituperative attack on the Editor-In-Chief of the Bilingual Free Press, Alhaji Bature Iddrisu.
The verbal duel between the two began last Friday on Adom FM, when Hon. Kennedy Agyapong verbally assaulted Alhaji Bature for comments he allegedly made against him on Asempa FM the previous day.
Hon. Kennedy Agyapong was reacting to allegations by Alhaji Bature that he was a drug baron and that cocaine was his source of wealth.
The MP descended on the former host of “Alhaji and Alhaji” on Radio Gold like a ton of bricks, claiming “he stinks and that, he Bature, was just a mere herdsman” when he, the MP left the shores of Ghana for the diaspora.
This, he said, forced him to cast aspersions at the NPP MP.
Speaking to the issue on X-FM, Alhaji Bature explained that on that fateful day (Friday), he called into a discussion programme on Adom FM to warn Hon. Agyapong to be very careful and that he (Bature) “doesn’t respect people who acquire their monies through illegal means like drugs.” He was emphatic that the Assin North MP “is a known drug dealer” and because of that nobody paid much regard to him as a wealthy person.
Alhaji Bature also accused Hon. Kennedy Agyapong’s mother of being a “dupe”. According to him, 12 years ago, he bought an item from the NPP MP’s mother at the Maamobi market and upon realizing the item was defective, asked for a return of his money, the woman would not budge.
“So if you have money, how come your mother is duping people?..Where did he get that money he is lavishing around with? How can he be giving communities 500 million each at Akufo Addo’s campaign rally?” Alhaji Bature asked.
Alhaji Bature, who promised to substantiate his allegation when called upon to do so, also accused the outspoken MP of being a “visa-fraudster”. He further alleged that Mr. Agyapong’s sister and brother-in-law cocaine dealers.
To him, rich folks do not brag unnecessarily about their wealth and accused the CEO of Kencity Media of suffering from “identity crisis”.
“The Asuma Bandas don’t go around boasting that they are rich, but we know that they are rich,” he added.
