Supporters OF Division One campaigners who could not contain the poor showing of the team anymore, vented their spleen on Chief Executive Officer of the club George Anane Coleman after a loss at home to Bibiani Gold Stars.

It took the intervention of security men on duty at the Nana Obeng Nuako Park in Dunkwa-on-Offin to save the CEO and restore order at the place.

Starke FC gained promotion to the second tier of Ghana football in 2008 and missed qualification into the elite division by a whisker in the 2008/2009 league season but have since been struggling to make any meaningful impact in Division One.

This season, their performances have been lackluster, picking up just a win from seven games and languishing at the bottom of the Zone 2A log. “Our poor performance stems from lack of quality players. In the past we had Latif Salifu who has just been transferred from Liberty to a club in Russia, Happy Ashia (Liberty) and Christopher Norwie (Ash gold) who formed a perfect combination. But ever since they left we have not had quality replacement for them,” Opoku, a staunch supporter told DAILY GUIDE SPORTS.

But the CEO, in a sharp rebuttal, said the dip in form is only temporary. “Yes I was manhandled and though I understand the frustration of the fans, I think what they did was unfair since I am also not happy with our performance,” Coleman told the media.

He said he believed in the players and the technical team. “Though we have problems with finances, we want to assure the supporters that we are doing everything possible to maintain our Division One status and then take off from there next season,” Anane Coleman concluded.
