The Ghanaian international joined the Black Cats on a six-month loan from the Italian giants last month.
Bruce has now revealed that he has agreement in place for a cut-price transfer for Muntari at the end of the English league season.
The deal would secure the 26-year-old Champions League winner for little more than half the fee and add-ons the European champions shelled for his services in the summer of 2008 just after he won the FA Cup with Portsmouth.
The midfielder has taken a massive pay cut to move to the Stadium of Light and Bruce already has a salary agreement in place with the Ghana World Cup star.
Bruce was delighted with Muntari’s debut in the 3-2 defeat at Stoke City and insists he feels at home alongside fellow Black Stars team mates Asamoah Gyan and John Mensah, also on a season-long loan deal.
Bruce said: “The kid has taken a huge wage cut to come here. There was no way we could match the wages he was paid without the player making it work.
“We would love to do the deal. But it is up to Sulley and how he enjoys it here. “Bringing him here is a statement of intent. “When I came here I don’t think too many people envisaged us taking a player from Inter Milan.”
