Maverick politician Kofi Wayo has launched a scathing attack on the flag-bearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo-Addo, describing his ‘all die be die’ comment as a “call of a dying man” who needs attention.
Nana Akufo-Addo who has come under a barrage of criticisms for his ‘all-die-be-die’ comments has been clarifying it saying, it was meant to urge party members to be courageous in the face of intimidation, even at the point of death.
But Mr Wayo believes, considering Ghana’s fragile democracy, if Akufo-Addo’s comment was to incite his supporters then it would be tantamount to a criminal utterance and should be arrested for “causing danger”.
He told Adom FM on Monday that no Ghanaian will lay down his or her life as is being advocated by the NPP flagbearer, adding “if he (Nana Addo) wants to die he will die”. He said it would be “mad” on anybody’s part to call on his fellow human beings to die for him just because he wants to get to a certain position.
Mr Wayo was however not surprised by Nana Addo’s comments because, to him, that has been the common trait of African leaders, who do not care about the welfare of the people but their own parochial interest.
He said Nana Akufo-Addo’s comments gave him away as a potential leader who lacks vision for the people and chooses to whip up political tension instead of talking about his developmental plans for the people. He advised Ghanaians to treat the ‘all-die-be-die’ comment with contempt, saying people will be “stupid” to follow such comments coming from politicians.
