Ghana striker Junior Agogo has started trials with Danish top flight Odense, after recovering from a serious knee injury, Ghanasoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.
The 31-year-old excelled in his first trial match for the club on Wednesday as they beat local side FC Vestsjællands in a pre-season friendly.
Agogo scored and set up another for the club during their 3-2 away win which has ignited hopes that he could be handed a permanent contract. The Ghana international helped Bashkim Kadrii to open the scoring on three minutes, holding off two defenders to set the onrushing midfielder to fire past the keeper.
Agogo grabbed the club’s second goal by dispossessing a midfielder of the ball, dribbled past three defenders before coolly placing the ball beyond the keeper. His overall performance was excellent but it was clear later on in the game that he lacked match fitness.
The Ghanaian is expected to improve on his fitness in subsequent training matches for Odense which has Cameroon midfielder Eric Djemba Djemba in the squad. Agogo was released by Cyprus club Appollon Limassol last year in the wake of a knee injury.
