Friends of Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings (FONKAR) say Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, has no political clout to determine who leads the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party since he “lost miserably” in his quest to represent the people of Ayawaso in the Greater Accra Region in Parliament.
The group contends that for failing to garner less than 6% of votes when he contested for the parliamentary seat in 1996, Mr. Pratt should stop posturing as a know-it-all person especially when he sits on air to discuss electoral matters.
The Communications Director for the group, Dela Coffie, in an interview on Xfm 95.1, noted that plans by Mr. Kwesi Pratt to scuttle the political ambition of Nana Konadu were because he thought he had a larger medium to do that.
Speaking in an angry tone, Dela Coffie rhetorically asked the host of the Big Bite who Mr. Pratt thought he was.
“In any case, who is Pratt, what has Pratt achieved for himself to run down somebody’s credibility? Konadu has done enough for herself and she has an image to protect,” Mr. Coffie stated.
He also accused the Managing Editor of the ‘Insight’ newspaper of colluding with some top level functionaries of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in order to sabotage “Konadu’s legacy”.
FONKAR’s communications director revealed that they have intelligence reports indicating that Mr. Ato Ahwoi is the main sponsor of Mr. Pratt.
“We will not sit down for somebody like Mr. Ato Ahwoi to get his partner friend in the media, to run down the image of Konadu….it is only Nana Konadu who can give the NDC a good leadership and not president Mills who is disillusioned,” he added.
To him, though Mr. Pratt was entitled to his personal opinion, he should not extend it to attacks on the dignity of Mrs. Konadu Rawlings.
“He cannot go and say that Konadu cannot get ten percent of votes, who is Pratt?” Mr. Coffie asked.
