Ghana defender Jonathan has been declared fit for Tuesday’s friendly against Togo after recovering from an injury in training.
The Spain-based defender was rushed to hospital in the Belgian town of Antwerp after a clash of heads with midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah.
Mensah had four stitches to his mouth before he was released from hospital on Monday night. Ghana team doctor Percy Annan says he will be able to play if he is chosen by the coach.
“Mensah is okay after the four stitches. He will be able to play if he is chosen tonight,” Dr. Annan told Ghanasoccernet.com.
Mensah stopped training and was taken to the hospital for treatment after he looked to have been dazed by the incident. Asamoah also had a head injury in the clash and had a bandage around his forehead as he looked to have suffered a cut.
Mensah is not likely to start the game because of the presence of central defender Isaac Vorsah and John Mensah.
Ghana will play Togo in the Belgian town of Antwerp on Tuesday night at 8pm local time.
