The Deputy Minister of Women and Children’s Affairs, Hajia Gariba Boya says it will be disaster for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to elect former first lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings to lead the party in the 2012 presidential elections.
Hajia Gariba Boya tells Asempa News even though Nana Konadu is a good politician and could be a good candidate, “the timing is not right for her and the party.”
The Deputy Minister says, if NDC changes its presidential candidate, it should count itself out of winning the 2012 elections.
“Nana Konadu should be patient and wait for 2016 when we are ready to change a candidate then we can consider her,” she said.
Hajia Boya noted that President John Evans Atta Mills is doing well and deserves another term, saying even if Nana Konadu tries competing with President Mills, she would not succeed.
“Besides, President Mills need another term to finish with his Better Ghana Agenda because four years is not enough to complete the agenda,” she said.
Ghanaian journalist and social commentator Kwesi Pratt has sworn to do everything in his power to ensure that NDC loses power in 2012 if Nana Konadu is elected leader of the party.
