Ghana’s sole representatives in this year’s CAF Champions League, Aduana Stars will tomorrow battle former Africa Champions Wydad Casablanca in the first leg Round of 64 in Casablanca.
The Ghanaian champions who are making their debut in the competition are full of confidence and hope to cruise into the next stage of the competition despite the opposition.
Aduana emerged from the second tier and won the Glo Premiership in their maiden appearance and are hoping they can replicate their impressive performance in Africa.
The team would be boosted by Coach Herbert Addo, veteran Dong Bortey, Godfred Saka and goalkeeper Stephen Adams from the local Black Stars camp as they trek to Morocco’s second biggest and most popular city.
Coach Addo insists the club would sail through despite the strong opposition.
“I am very confident that we’ll give a good account of ourselves in Morocco. It’s a massive weekend for the club and everyone is proud to be associated with it,” he told ghanafa.org.
“Remember this will be our first time so we will have to take it one stage at a time. It is important that we get out of this stage first,” he added.
In the CAF Confederations Cup, Ashgold trek to Ivory Coast to face local side Sewe Sport today.
Meanwhile, the Black Queens will be seeking to progress into the next stage of the London 2012 Olympics when they host their Guinean counterparts at the El Wak Sport Stadium today.
The Queens won the first leg 2-0.
