The principal streets of Accra are expected to be painted with the rainbow colours of Accra Hearts of Oak this Thursday. Agitated fans of the relegation-threatened club would embark on a massive demonstration against the club’s poor form on the day.
Barring any last minute hitch, the planned demonstration would kick start at 10:00am. A die-hard fan of the club in the Ashanti regional capital of Kumasi, Kwaku Adusei aka ‘Kanewu’, is the brain behind the demonstration.
He lamented that Hearts were being threatened in their centenary year, stressing that something ought to be done in earnest to save the club. Kanewu said irate fans of Hearts from across the country would converge on Kwame Nkrumah Circle early in the morning.
From there, he said, the fans would peacefully match through some principal streets of the nation’s capital in demonstration. The aggrieved Hearts fans would later assemble at the club’s secretariat where a petition for an immediate congress would be handed to patrons of the club.
Kanewu observed that going for an early congress to pick new a board of directors was the surest way of saving Hearts from misery. He said organizers of the demonstration were seriously working hard to get a police permit to hit the streets on Thursday morning.
