It seems President John Evan Atta Mills’ admonishing on the need to do away with insults on radio has fallen on deaf ears as representatives of the largest opposition group, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and some members of his own party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) continuously flout this sage counsel and hurl abusive language at each other on a daily basis.
The latest to have gone against the President’s warning is an activist of the ruling NDC, Samuel George. He has lampooned the opposition NPP and their flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo describing them as nation wreckers who interpret issues to suit their own parochial interest.
The social commentator, who lauded President Mills’ stance on the Ivorian crisis describing his decision not to contribute troops as noble, stated that it is disgraceful for a former Foreign Affairs Minister to display this gross amount of lack of knowledge and understanding of international diplomacy.
Speaking on e-TV’s Breakfast TV Newspaper Review, Samuel George, who labeled the Press Conference held by Nana Akufo Addo to state his position on the Ivorian situation as bogus and brandish, wondered why the presidential candidate expended his energy on such an improvident venture.
“The NPP is a party that is in disarray and do not know what they are about. They are country destroyers who try to interpret things their own way, and I wonder what their PROs are doing. I also think Nana Akufo Addo’s press conference was bogus and brandish to say the least, because you ask yourself why a presidential candidate will waste his time and show gross lack of knowledge on platform,” he fumed.
According to him, the NPP and its flagbearer Nana Akufo Addo are a bunch of confused individuals that is why they constantly harp on President Mills’ position Cote D’ivoire. To him, the NPP Flagbearer is still living under the illusion of becoming a president one day, and accused him of trying to dictate to President Mills what to do or say.
“What else do the NPP want President Mills to do to them; this clearly shows you the whole picture and the whole image of the NPP and its flagbearer Nana Addo. They are bunch of confused individuals who have no idea what they are about because in one breath, they say the president should come out and speak and when he came out to speak; they are saying he is undermining ECOWAS…Nana Addo is still living under the illusion that he is one day going to become the president of this country…He should bear in mind that he is an ordinary citizen of this country like anybody else, all he has is probably the title flagbearer of the NPP but it does not make him above anybody. He is still a citizen of this country who is answerable to the president,” he said angrily.
