KENNY DALGLISH is on the brink of landing Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez for £18million. The 23-year-old Ajax star is a long-time Liverpool target but the Dutch giants wanted at least £25m.
But Kop boss Dalglish and director of football Damien Comolli are said to be close to a breakthrough with an £18m offer.
The deal is thought to include Ryan Babel going the other way and returning to his old club. The Dutchman’s proposed £6m move to German side Hoffenheim is on hold.
Suarez has scored nine goals in 19 games for Ajax this season. One deal unlikely to materialise is Liverpool’s hunt for winger Ashley Young with Aston Villa demanding £20m. The Kop are also eyeing Manchester City’s James Milner.
