Ghana midfielder Ibrahim ‘Rahim’ Ayew has completed his move to Belgian side Lierse, his club Zamalek has reported.
The Egyptian side said in an official statement that they have sold the son of legend Abedi Pele for US$50,000.
They were initially angling for $100,000 as his transfer fee but with several months of his wages still outstanding, they opted to sell him.
Lierse have confirmed that they have reached a verbal agreement with Ayew over his terms of contract but failed to reveal whether it has been signed.
Ayew has not played competitively for Zamalek since Hossam Hassan took over as the coach of the Whites despite the youngster being part of Ghana’s World Cup and Nations Cup team.
Lierse is owned by an Egyptian businessman who signs players from the Egyptian league for the market in Europe.
Ayew impressed in matches for Belgian side Lierse during their recent training tour of Egypt.
