While many Nollywood A-list actors are diversifying in their crafts to make ends meet; actor Femi Branch has chosen to go into writing.
He has complete work on his maiden collection of poems and short plays titled, “From Senbora” and he is ready to present the same to the public.
The book, the author disclosed is a collection of his thoughts of several years. The presentation is due for next month, in Abuja.
In the words of the actor-turned-poet, “the plays you have in the book are stage plays, they are scripts for plays.
They have been performed by different people and it will still be performed. So, any stage director can pick up the book, go through any of the plays and produce them for the stage. A movie director can also pick any of the plays and adapt it for screen so also a radio drama producer can adapt it for radio. As it is, it is a ready script, a compendium of different scripts that can be used in whatever form.”
Recall that the actor introduced the collection first at his 40th birthday anniversary , last December at Western Hotel, Ikeja. He reveals that plans are in top gear to launch the book across the world, including in Ghana, South Africa, London, Dublin and New York and Canada amongst other countries.
“We are planning the Abuja launch which is the main launch of the book and my Foundation. We are hoping to partner with the British Council and some other corporate organisations.
We are also planning state launches, we are already discussing with some state governments. I intend to have launches in Ghana, South Africa, London, Dublin and New York and Canada. I will try to give as much mileage as possible,” the songwriter and poet said.
