The president, John Evans Atta Mills, is expected to meet senior editors and media owners today Friday January 7, in his office at the Osu Castle.
The media encounter, which coincides with the release of the President’s first list of ministerial reshuffle, would afford them the opportunity to assess him on his performance in the last two years and the way forward.
Communications Director at the Presidency Koku Anyidoho who confirmed this says so far he has received the names of seventy participants made up of media owners, news editors, Morning show hosts, News Anchors amongst others.
Also represented are the international media – BBC, CNN and Reuters. He said the President will answer a variety of questions on past and recent happenings in his administration and the year 2011, which has been declared an action year.
This would be the second time the president is meeting senior journalists since he assumed office. He has however met with the Leadership of the Ghana Journalists Association in a separate encounter.
In April 2009, the President had a similar meeting with journalists to assess him after ninety-eight days in office. Former President John Agyekum Kufuor had a similar media encounter on his 100-day in office and endured hours of questioning from journalists.
