Former Special Assistant to the late Chief M.K.O Abiola, the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, Lisa Olu Akerele, has said the country has lost a reformist with the death of Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.
In a statement in Abuja, Akerele said Ojukwu was destined for the progress of Nigeria.
Akerele, however, observed that if leaders like Ojukwu had risen beyond their ethnic cleavages and viewed the June 12 annulment with a national perspective, the country would have been a better entity today.
He urged Ojukwu’s contemporaries still alive and the younger generation to strive beyond their ethnic enclave, and view Nigeria from a nationalistic perspective.
