Marouane Fellaini is a doubt for Everton
After holding Premier League leaders Manchester City, West Bromwich Albion will be looking to get another positive result when they host Everton at the Hawthorns on New Year’s Day, kick-off at 14h30.
The Baggies will undoubtedly approach the game with more confidence when they meet the team that sits just one point below them in tenth place.
However, it won’t be easy as the last time the two teams met in September Everton knocked out the Throstles 2-1 in a league cup match.
West Brom’s home ground form remains a concern after conceding four penalties in the last five matches at the Hawthorns, but can take comfort in the fact that the Merseyside have kept just two clean sheets in their last 10 Premier League encounters.
Nevertheless, Everton full-back Leighton Baines remains upbeat on their Boxing Day challenge: “It’s always tough down there. We have ground out a couple of decent results in the past.
“We know it will be a tough game but we are confident that we can win it.”
