A man died when the bakkie he was driving rolled on the N1 north before the Allandale Road offramp in Midrand on Thursday, paramedics said.
It appeared the driver of the single cab bakkie lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a concrete pillar below a signpost, ER24 spokeswoman Vanessa Jackson said in a statement.
“The man was found lying inside the driver’s compartment, lying on the roof of the now upside down vehicle in the emergency lane. The vehicle was crushed and the man had suffered extensive injuries.”
Fire and rescue workers cut the man’s body from the wreck. He was declared dead on the scene. No other cars were involved. – Sapa
