Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has praised reserve team boss Warren Joyce for his decision to reject an offer to take over the reins at Hull City.
Joyce was approached for the role to succeed Nigel Pearson, who left last month to return to Leicester City, but decided to turn down the opportunity in order to stay at Old Trafford.
Sir Alex revealed he was relieved to hear his coach would not be leaving the club, and believes the right decision was ultimately made.
“We’re delighted [he’s staying] because there was obviously a concern when he was offered the Hull City job,” Sir Alex told Inside United.
“The thing about anybody working here is that they know their job is safe, whereas if you join the managerial merry-go-round, you’re in trouble if you lose three games.
“But he does a great and very important job with the reserves, and he’s helping [Paul] Scholes settle into his new role, and Scholesy is enjoying working with Warren because he’s a really good professional.”
