Briefing The Citizen On Sunday, Nyambui said that the date of the election would be announced later after completing election procedures as per rules and regulations under the National Sports Council (NSC). Nyambui said the procedure requires them to unveil the election date 45 days before and issue candidates with nomination forms.

“We have met and decided to conduct the election in February. We are currently at the end of the year holidays, and next month would be the busiest month for the preparations,” said Nyambui.

According to Nyambui their four year-leadership term has expired, and currently the body President, Francis John has announced to defend his post in the next general election. However, Nyambui said that he is yet to decide if he will contest or not.

“I’m not sure who will contest again, only Francis John has announced his intention to defend his post,” he said adding that other executive committee members are yet to declare their intention to run for re-election, we have to be patient,” he said.

Nyambui said all those aspiring to contest for various posts are supposed to collect forms which will be available 21 days ahead of the event at the National Sports Council Offices (NSC) in Dar es Salaam after official announcement.

The acting AT secretary said he expects a huge turn up of delegates to the elections as invitations have been extended all over the country.

He said that the election exercise would go along with AT annual general meeting (AGM) where delegates will deliberate on achievements and failures of the current leadership in the past four years it has been in office.
