Ghana youngster Jordan Ayew says that his extra effort over the past six months earned him a place in the Black Stars’ 25-man pre-competition squad.

The 20-year-old Olympique Marseille forward was quoted by MTNFootball saying that he needs to consolidate his position in the national team by going a step further.

The younger brother of Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew, who also plays for the same club in France, said he hopes to give his best at his first Africa Cup of Nations.

“I have worked very hard this six months to be part of the squad and I did a very good work for the half of the season,” Jordan said. “The Ghanaian fans are watching the Ligue 1 and I think it is my hard work which is now paying off so I must continue like this.”

Ayew added, “It’s my first Nations Cup so I can’t tell you much but I think if I’m going to a tournament, it is to have playing time and some experience.

“So we will all go and give our 100 per cent.”
