Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has confirmed that there is no longer a deal with Catania over Maxi Lopez after admitting he will wait for Carlos Tevez.

The Scudetto champions have openly made contact with both representatives from each player. Should City continue to refuse a loan move for the Argentine it has been confirmed that Maxi Lopez had agreed to be a back up signing.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, Galliani noted: “Will Tevez be a Christmas present for the fans? It’s tough in a period of economic difficulty, but we will try to keep the supporters happy.

“Maxi Lopez? Catania have been very kind and open, but I made a promise to Carlitos that we’ll wait for him until January 31st.

“If Tevez does not arrive, then we will stay as we are.”
