The first edition of chairman’s cup for basketball players starts on Monday on the basketball court of Police College, Ikeja.
The championship, which is sponsored by the chairman of Police Basketball Association, Moses Jitoboh, will have 12 teams competing for honours.
Organisers explain that although it’s an open championship, a team can only feature three professional players during a game.
Winners will go home with cash prizes and trophies in the six-day event. Coordinator of the championship, Mark Balogun, says basketball needs more sponsors so that the young talents can be exposed to competitions.
