Nigeria ‘B’ team Friday morning defeated National League division one side Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) FC 1-0 in a test game in Abuja.
The match winner for the team of players from the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) was Heartland midfield Ikechukwu Ibenegbu, who hit target five minutes from half time from the penalty spot.
The local Eagles could have won by a bigger margin but were let down by poor finishing.
National Youth Corper Stephen Morah missed narrowly with a glancing header, while in the dying moments of the test game Enyimba striker Uche Kalu failed to beat the goalkeeper when clear on goal.
Officials disclosed that efforts are afoot for the team to play an international friendly on January 7.
The ‘B’ team is part of Nigeria’s build-up for a 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda on February 29 in Kigali.
