Prime Minister Kamal el-Ganzouri and all the cabinet members expressed deep sorrow and resentment over the attack on the Egyptian scientific institute headquarters early Saturday and setting the building ablaze.

Egypt has lost one of its national treasures and a unique historic heritage when the protesters set the Egyptian scientific academy building on fire, a statement released by the cabinet said.

The unique and irreplaceable documents, maps and treasures have been protected by many generations over the past 213 years, the statement said, adding that the academy was established in 1798.

The government will track down the perpetrators of such violations against the homeland and the people, the statement added.
