Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has stressed the negative aspects of potentially taking up the England job, should he be offered the position when Fabio Capello steps down.

The Italian boss has already announced that he intends to walk away from the Three Lions once their Euro 2012 campaign comes to an end.

Redknapp has persistently been linked with the upcoming vacancy, receiving appreciation and backing from many other managers and players alike.

But the 64-year-old is apprehensive about the amount of criticism that the national team boss is subjected to, Capello himself having had to endure a difficult time in the post, despite previously winning the domestic league title with every club he had managed.

“It’s a difficult one. You’re on a hiding to nothing no matter who you are and what you have achieved in the game,” Redknapp is quoted as saying by The Sunday Mirror.

“You have to hit the ground running and you get slaughtered. No one has escaped criticism yet.”
