Abuja — President Goodluck Jonathan has assured Nigerians in the Diaspora that his administration would open discussions with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other relevant bodies to ensure that they can vote in future Nigerian elections.

Jonathan stated this yesterday when he met with the representatives of the Nigerian community living in France whom he told of his conviction that Nigerians living outside the country should have a right to vote and chose who rules their country from where they live.

He said the confidence he has in the ability of Nigerians in the Diaspora to make their contribution in advancing development of the country manifests in their representation in his cabinet.

He assured them of the resolve of his administration to pursue the transformation agenda to a logical conclusion so that Nigerians everywhere in the world can regain their pride of place.

“We need people with experience at home and abroad to make contributions. When I interact with world leaders, they always say that Nigerians are fantastic people. Everywhere, the leaders say that Nigeria has great human resources.

“What we need to do is to provide the enabling environment at home so that people can be encouraged to come back home. That is why we are working on security, power and other issues,” Jonathan said.
