A make shift Roma did well to hold Juevntus to a 1-1 draw which saw the Giallorossi take the lead through Daniele De Rossi before Giorgio Chiellini equaliser, and Francesco Totti missing a penalty.

Against everyone’s expectations it Roma who took the lead in the game just 5 minutes in.  The move was instrumented by the city’s legend Francesco Totti, as he chipped a cross for Daniele De Rossi.

The stand in defender hit a weak low volley from nine yards as it skipped past Arturo Vidal, who should have made the clearance.

It was a first half of note for the first ever Dutch player of Roma, as Maarten Stekelenburg did will to stick out a hand to beat away a swerving Alessandro Matri shot, it would be the first of several for the shot-stopper.

Rodrigo Taddei was found in similar fault to Vidal as he aired a clearance, from a Marcelo Estigarribia effort, but Stekelenburg was once again equal to it.

Vidal then saw his volley go wide; while Gabriel Heinze made one of several well-timed tackles to end Matri’s attack.

Just before the break Andrea Pirlo placed a free kick beneath the wall, but it lacked the desired power to beat the goalkeeper.

Following the restart, Andrea Barzagli did well to make a vital challenge on a Pablo Osvaldo, in order to stop him from tapping in Totti’s ball.

But just after the hour mark Juventus pulled one back through Giorgio Chiellini. The defender did well to rise above everyone else and put one past Stekelenburg in goal.

However, Juventus were dealt another scare when the Giallorossi were awarded a penalty from a Vidal foul on Erik Lamela. Totti stood up to take the spot-kick but he failed to convert as Gianluigi Buffon did well to dive the right way and palm it out of danger.

Substitute Fabio Quagliarella hit a weak effort straight at Stekelenburg, as it went out for a corner at the near post, before Stephan Lichsteiner stung the side netting.

There was a final frustrating moment for Roma as Fabio Simplicio wasted a golden opportunity by chipping into Buffon’s arms when Totti was unmarked in front of an open goal.

The draw between the two sides sees Juventus join Udinese at the top of the table, while the point for Roma will act as protagonist for hopefully better things to come, as the Giallorossi have been on the receiving end of bad luck.
