Deputy Information Minister Mohammed Baba Jamal who only last week was elected the National Democratic Congress Akwatia Parliamentary candidate for the 2012 elections, says the seat will not be stolen from him this time round.
“I have always maintained that I have never lost the Akwatia seat, it has always been stolen away from me and the evidence is clear when you go into the details of it,” he said.
Baba Jamal told Joy News’ Araba Koomson that this time round, all the loopholes that have always been exploited by the New Patriotic Party to deny him the seat will be plucked to “ensure that we snatch the seat back.”
The governing NDC this weekend held parliamentary primaries in orphan constituencies which saw some heavy weights lose in the bid to pick up parliamentary tickets to contest the 2012 elections. Notable amongst them are former Information Minister Zita Okaikoi and Agric Minister Kwesi Ahwoi.
Party Organiser, Yaw Boateng Gyan told Joy FM Super Morning Show Monday that the NDC delegates were discerning and elected candidates they genuinely believed were capable of winning the seats for the NDC.
He is confident the candidates selected will snatch the seats from the opposition NPP.
Mr Gyan said if the NPP hope to form the majority in parliament in next year’s elections, “they should revise their notes.”
