Johannesburg – North West police dismissed media reports on Sunday that a police constable who was injured in an accident near Zeerust has died, police said.

“The constable is still alive at Victoria Hospital,” Constable Duduzile Zwane said.

One officer died on the scene and the other was admitted to Lehurutshe Hospital in a critical condition.

The names of the officers were not disclosed. They were stationed at Lehurutshe police station at the time of the accident.

Police arrested the truck driver on the scene, Zwane said.
