A woman was killed and 14 others were injured when their minibus taxi overturned in Roodepoort, west of Johannesburg on Friday, paramedics said.
Netcare 911 spokesman Jeffrey Wicks said a man and young girl were critically injured in the accident on Main Reef road in the early hours of Friday.
The minibus, which had been towing a trailer, appeared to have started veering violently across the road.
“The driver was unable to correct this and the vehicle overturned and rolled several times before coming to rest at the roadside.”
Several passengers were flung from the taxi as it rolled. One woman died at the scene. The injured were taken to the Charlotte Maxeke, Chris Hani Baragwanath and Leratong state hospitals. – Sapa
