Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has played down rumours that the Premier League club are set to launch a bid for Lille playmaker Eden Hazard.

The Belgian looks set to leave the French champions and whilst the Italian boss did concede that he is an admirer of Hazard’s talents, he revealed that he is not eyeing a January move for the 20-year-old

“No, this is not true,” he told Sky Sports News when asked if City were close to sealing a deal for the youngster.

“He is a good player but at this moment we have not spoken about him.”
Hazard’s arrival has been touted with Carlos Tevez set to leave Eastlands next month, and whilst Mancini once again reiterated the Argentine is not available on loan, he is hopeful that the striker’s protracted move to AC Milan can be completed sooner rather than later.

He explained: “We hope AC Milan want to take him, it could be closed in one week or 10 days, but I don’t know if it is possible.

“I am confident we can close this situation quickly if it is possible, but they cannot take him on loan.”
