Nigeria coach Samson Siasia is undaunted about meeting Ghana on Tuesday insisting the Super Eagles will not be thrashed by their arch rivals.
The two countries clash in a friendly in London as they prepare for next month’s crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Black Stars have dominated recent matches between the two countries and their form since the World Cup in South Africa suggests they are the favourites.
The last time the two sides met in London in 2007, Ghana thrashed Nigeria 4-1 and Black Stars fans expect their team to continue their dominance over the Super Eagles.
But Siasia says the Nigeria team has improved tremendously since the previous meeting in London, insisting Ghana must forget about thrashing the Super Eagles.
“It’s always a tough game against Ghana but it would be an exciting game. Nothing is impossible. We have a new team,” Siasia said at the pre-match press conference in London.
“Don’t expect what you saw the last time (4-1 defeat). It’s a new ball game.
“We will play for pride. What we have is a different team. We have made a lot of tactical changes and would see how it goes.
“I think we have the confidence we need going into the game against Ghana. I don’t think, victory is all that Nigerians want. Of course, it’s important.
“We don’t want to lose. We only want to win and make Nigerians proud.”
Ghana will be seeking to continue their dominance over Nigeria while the Super Eagles are fighting to break the jinx against the Black Stars.
The Black Stars have won their last four matches against their arch rivals Nigeria.
