Candidates for the forthcoming Football Kenya polls will lead a mass demonstration in Nairobi tomorrow to protest against alleged inclusion of fake clubs into the voter register released by the Independent Electoral Board last week.

The demonstration will be led by chairmanship aspirants Extreme Sports CEO Hussein Mohammed and Kenya Football Federation (KFF) senior vice chairman Twaha Mbarak. They want the IEB to publish a properly scrutinised list of clubs to ensure only genuine clubs participate in the elections scheduled for August 13. They accused Football Kenya Limited (FKL) of registering clubs that are not in existence for purposes of rigging the polls. The demonstration will begin at 10am at Uhuru Park, through Harambee Avenue to Ministry of Youth and Sports offices at Kencon House, where they will hand their hosts a petition letter.

They called football stakeholders, fans and the general public to stand in solidarity with them in demanding for justice. In a statement read on their behalf by the Nairobi branch chairmanship hopeful Benjamin ‘Solo’ Odhiambo, the aspirants said: “We have had enough rhetoric and lip service and its a high time the government stepped in to save the situation or we immediately take to the streets for mass action and demand for our rights,” the said. Others present were former Kenya international Sammy Sholei, Josephat Murila, former Gor Mahia striker Eric Obura and former AFC Leopards secretary general Robert Asembo. Kenya Football Coaches Association (Kefoca) chairman Ricky Solomon, AFC leopards team manager Noah Wanyama and Kenya Football Fans Association chairman Joash Amukayia were also in attendance.
