Manchester City stiker Edin Dzeko believes his goal against Inter in the Dublin Super Cup will give him the confidence to score plenty more during the rest of the season.
The £27 million January signing had a goal disallowed in the first half, but just 34 seconds into the second half the Bosnian stroked the ball past Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar into the bottom corner.
“It was really good for my confidence, I think I was a bit tired in the last few minutes, but at the end when I watched the game I think we played like a team and were very very good,” Dezko told City’s official website after the game.
“I think we played really well from the first to the last minute and I think we deserved to win the game, and also the tournament.”
City will open their season in the traditional curtain raiser next weekend in the Community Shield against bitter rivals Manchester United, and Dzeko believes his side can win.
“It’s a big game, for us, for our fans,” he added. “I think we are fit and I hope we can win the game but invariably younger known and Wembley will be full again and I hope to win one more cup before the season starts.”
