On Thursday evening, many Ghanaians had the absolute honour of listening to the Gracias Choir at the Christmas in July concert where they dished out a heartwarming performance at the Conference Centre.

It was a Christmas in July concert indeed, the feeling of the yuletide was all around. The choir wowed the crowd with their performance of many well-known Christmas songs such as Ding Dong Merrily On High, I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas and many others.

The Christmas in July concert was more than a choral concert, it was theatrical and portrayed the birth of Christ with the blending acting and uplifting music. The choir made use of the Conference Centre stage in ways one might not think were possible with their use of elaborate decorations and creative ways of showing flashback scenes, indeed, it was breathtaking.

Somewhere in the middle of the show, some children from the International Youth Federation (IYF) came onstage to do some choreography which brought smiles to the faces of the audience. The children danced in uniformity and executed the dance moves perfectly. In short, the performance was simply adorable.

The audience could not get enough of the choir and would not rest until they had been treated to two additional songs from the choir. The additional songs performed, to many, was the highlight of the show. One duet that was sung by a Ghanaian with a deep voice that could rival that of Nat King Cole, and another member of the choir was particularly moving. The audience, listening to a foreigner sing well known Twi songs with such a beautiful voice, could not help but burst into applause to show their admiration.

After the performances, the founder of the IYF, the South Korean Pastor Ock Soo Park came on stage to give an inspiring talk about his life as a Christian and how he was able to touch the lives of others through his work.

When the show came to an end, there was a somewhat quiet mood in the auditorium, but this quietness was a good thing because it showed that everyone who had attended the Christmas in July concert had been touched.
