Federico Macheda has revealed he is eager to return to the Premier League, and believes that he will benefit from the time that he spent at Serie A side Sampdoria, during his six month loan spell away from Manchester United.
The 19-year-old made his name coming off the bench to secure a last gasp win against Aston Villa two years ago and joined the Genoan side in January to gain some added experience to bring back with him to England.
“Psychologically it was not easy because to go from United to Sampdoria and to fight to avoid the drop was a difficult situation,” the Italian said to Sky Italia.
“I wanted to have an experience in Italy but now I want to remain in the Premier League. England is better suited for young players.”
Macheda who is contracted with the Red Devils until June of next year failed to score in 14 appearances for Sampdoria in Serie A.
“I arrived in Genoa with great enthusiasm,” he added. “The first few games the team and I did very well but after the defeat to Napoli, I did not find continuity.”
