Tai Solarin University donates N3m to religious groups

Ado-Ekiti -  Medical practitioners in Ekiti are set to begin routine treatment of common ailments in rural rural communities free of charge. Dr Abiola Omodan, the President of the Association of Resident Doctors, University Teaching Hospital (UTH) Ado-Ekiti, disclosed this on Sunday in Ado-Ekiti at the maiden edition of the association’s annual lecture titled “Medical Ethics in the Face of Emerging Medical Legal Issues in Nigeria”.

Ijebu-Ode (Ogun) – The management of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Ogun State, has donated a total of N3 million to three religious groups in the campus.

A statement by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Gbenga Omilola,  in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun, on Monday, said that the donation was made in appreciation of their role toward ensuring peace within the university environment.

According to the statement, N1.5 million will go to the Muslim group, N1 million to other Christian denominations while the Roman Catholic group would receive N500,000.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Segun Awonusi, while giving out the cheques to the groups, was quoted as saying that he appreciated them for their prayers.

He said that the management would continue to appreciate their support in the sustenance of peace within the campus.

The Chairman of the Muslim community, Dr Alani Seriki,  in his response, thanked the university management for the gesture and promised sustained prayers for peace, the statement said.

The Chairman of the Christian community, Rev. Femi Fatade, while also thanking the management
for the gesture, said that the donation would assist in completing some of the community’s projects. (NAN)
