Khartoum — UN Security Council delegation currently visiting Sudan on Sunday issued press statement expressing concern about the situations in Abyei. The statement has condemned all types of violence in the area and called on all the parties to resolve all Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) and post CPA issues peacefully.
The statement has also condemned attack by the Sudan People Liberation Movement against UN mission in Sudan scoring the Sudanese Army. “The attack was not only a serious breach of the agreements between the parties, but also a criminal action against United Nations mission and its personnel” read the statement. The statement moreover, has urged Sudan government to stop military operations and pull out of the area immediately. Members of the Security Council urged the two parties to refrain from the use of force and stick to Kadugli Agreement. The statement underscored responsibility of the two parties to protect civilians and respect the mandate of UN.
