Everton striker Louis Saha fears that he could be sidelined for the rest of the season after injuring his ankle in the 2-1 win over Fulham.

“I am on crutches at the moment,” Saha told L’Equipe.

“I am not well. Am I going to be out for days, weeks, months? I do not know. But it will be difficult to play again by the end of the season.”

The 32-year-old forward has been plagued with injuries throughout his career, and the Frenchman admits that he has thought of retiring when injuries have been particularly hard.

“I am getting fed up with it because it always happens when I am trying to start something. It is hard, but when I see what is happening in Japan, I do not want to complain. This year has been very frustrating, doing all the physical preparation and hurting myself in the process.

“There have been many moments where I have wanted to drop everything, especially when I was at Manchester United, but fortunately I am surrounded by people that help me see the bright side of life.”

Saha’s injury leaves David Moyes with a huge selection problem for the rest of the season as it leaves just Jermaine Beckford as the club’s only fit forward.

Although he has previously tried to fill the gap in his striking options with Tim Cahill, Moyes’ threadbare squad appears to be catching up with him as Marouane Fellaini and Mikel Arteta are both likely to miss much of the season run-in.
